BETTY B. MARLEY, OAKFIELD – Betty B. Marley, 86, passed away June 28, 2017 surrounded by loved ones. Betty was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Benjamin T. Marley Jr. She was born February 16, 1931, in Meriden, CT, the daughter of the late Wellman and Bessie Brown. She was a graduate of Ricker College in Houlton, ME, in 1949.
Ben and Betty were married in Caribou, ME, in 1959 and embarked on the adventure of starting and raising their family in Coventry, CT. Betty retired from Brand Rex Corporation of Willimantic, CT. She was an avid reader and loved her cats. After Betty and Ben retired, they researched the Marley family lineage extensively, which dates back to Smyrna, ME, 1827. They created a journal of family history which was published and shared with their children.
In 2005 Betty and Ben moved back to their hometown of Oakfield, ME, where they enjoyed visiting with family and friends.
Betty is lovingly remembered by her sons Benjamin T. Marley III “Ted” and his wife Laura Marley of Smyrna, ME; Leonard Marley of Willington, CT; and daughter Christine Marley and her fiancé, Roger Harrison of Holland, MA; six grandchildren, Joseph and Hanna Marley of Smyrna, ME; Samantha and Jacob Marley of Willington, CT; Erica Kristoff of Worcester, MA, and Jennifer Kristoff of Fairfax, VA; great-grandson Aleksy Orlowski; and many nieces and nephews.
