Fast moving storm could bring six inches of snow to The County

CARIBOU, Maine — A winter weather advisory is in effect for parts of Aroostook County Wednesday night into Thursday, according to meteorologists at the National Weather Service in Caribou. 

Parts of central and northern Aroostook County could see between four to six inches of snow from the fast moving storm that also is expected to impact parts of Somerset and Piscataquis counties.

Tony Mignone, meteorologist at the NWS office in Caribou, said Wednesday that the advisory remains in effect from 6 p.m. Wednesday until 11 a.m. Thursday.

The line of snow is expected to extend from Mars Hill up to Fort Kent, while southern Aroostook should not see significant snow from the storm.

Road conditions are expected to be slippery with reduced visibility during the day Thursday.

Mignone said that there is currently 28 inches of snow on the ground in Caribou, which is seven inches above the average of 21 inches for this time of year.
