PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The United Way of Aroostook will hold its annual meeting on Tuesday, June 12, from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at the University of Maine at Presque Isle Campus Center.
The meeting will begin with breakfast, followed by a brief business meeting to install new members to the Board of Directors and to present several awards, including the agencies funded through the allocation process.
Awards will include the top 10 campaigns, Volunteer of the Year, Business of the Year and the Community Partner Award. United Way will recognize the thousands of donors, hundreds of volunteers and many local businesses who have supported the work of the organization throughout the year.
The agencies which the United Way will fund support health and human service programs which have a positive impact on the citizens who live and work throughout Aroostook County. In addition to funds given to local agencies, United Way of Aroostook also financially supports many programs which address health, education and income, such as 211 Maine, Aroostook CA$H Coalition, Dress A Child Program, Santa’s Sleigh Project, Summer Gap Feeding, Summer Slide Backpack Program, and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
The agency also helped raise funds through telethons for fuel assistance and homelessness. In addition, United Way coordinates donor designations to non-United Way agencies.
“In total, United Way of Aroostook contributes nearly half a million dollars to the communities it serves,” said Sherry Locke, United Way executive director.
The cost to attend the meeting is $15 per person. To RSVP, contact the office at 764-5197 or email elaine@unitedwayaroostook.org.
