A man with possible ties to Presque Isle has been arrested and charged with the murder of Nichole Cable,
a 15-year-old Glen-burn girl who was reported missing by her family on May 12, Mother’s Day.
Kyle Dube, 20, of Orono, was charged with murder Tuesday after a body — which has yet to be identified but is presumed to be that of Cable — and other evidence was recovered by officials in a section of woods off Route 43 near Stillwater River in Old Town.
When charged, Dube, whose Facebook account lists Presque Isle as his hometown, was in custody at Penobscot County Jail where he had begun serving a 90-day sentence on May 17 for an unrelated criminal speeding conviction dating back to last summer.
Neither the Presque Isle District Court nor the Caribou Superior Court had any cases on record for Dube, but numerous cases were reported in Penobscot County, dating back three years and including: having a loaded firearm/crossbow in a motor vehicle in 2010; burglary of a motor vehicle and theft by unauthorized taking or transfer in 2011; and theft by unauthorized taking or transfer, as well as driving to endanger and criminal speed 30 mph over the speed limit in 2012. The latter charge involved a high-speed chase with Maine State Police that Dube was involved in in August of 2012 that reached speeds of about 150 mph.
