A Fort Fairfield man missing since Aug. 22 has been found dead, law enforcement officials said Monday.
The body of Edward Bolstridge, 68, was found at around 2 p.m. Monday in the North Maine Woods, according to Fort Fairfield Police Chief Matthew Cummings.
While patrolling by air, U.S. Border Patrol officers found Bolstridge’s Kia Soul near a logging road in T-17, R-12 Wels west of Allagash Township, close to the northwest border, Cummings said.
Wardens went to the location and found Bolstridge near his vehicle, the chief said.
The case is now in the hands of the Maine Warden Service and the state medical examiner’s office will investigate, he said.
“Our thoughts are with the family of Mr. Bolstridge as they grieve the loss of their beloved,” Cummings said. “Please offer them privacy as they navigate through this difficult time.”
“Edward Bolstridge of Fort Fairfield has been located and the Silver Alert has been canceled,” said Shannon Moss, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson.
The Fort Fairfield Police Department issued a Silver Alert on Aug. 22 for Bolstridge, 68, who had multiple sclerosis and memory issues. The notice was shared across multiple law enforcement platforms.
He had been last seen in Westfield, driving north in a 2016 silver Kia Soul with the license plate EAB1.
