Tractor club makes donations
Three local agencies were the recent beneficiaries of the generosity of an Aroostook County organization.
“This year we presented donations to three organizations on behalf of our club, the Northern Maine Antique Tractor Club,” said Cheryl Boulier, spokesperson for the NMATC.
The agencies receiving donations were the Red Cross, Aroostook House of Comfort and Hospice of Aroostook. Presentations were made during a gathering in the fall.
“Joyce Knorr of the local chapter of the American Red Cross was presented with a check for $500. Part of the proceeds from our annual raffle is given to a different local charity each year,” she said.
A donation was also presented to Rick Duncan and Mike MacPherson, representatives of the Aroostook House of Comfort project.
“A donation was also made from our annual tractor trek to Gail Phair, Kirk and Ruth Collins, to benefit Hospice of Aroostook,” said Boulier.
For eight years now, the club has held an annual Antique Tractor Trek to raise funds for hospice care locally.
“This year we raised over $3,000 and this amount was divided between both the House of Comfort project and Hospice of Aroostook. In these eight years we have raised close to $30,000 to support hospice care locally, which we feel is a very worthy cause,” she said.
“Our club prides itself in being dedicated each year to giving back to the community and supporting local hospice care, along with organizations like the Red Cross,” said Boulier.
