Plans progress for Rotary auction

HOULTON — The Houlton Rotary Club has begun work on the 52nd annual Rotary Radio and TV Auction scheduled for the week of Thanksgiving. Rotarians will be visiting area businesses to gather items for the annual auction, which serves as the major fund-raiser for the club. A number of items will be placed as nightly specials or 3-night specials where bids will be accepted for the items throughout the night or the three nights of the auction.     Funds raised from this year’s auction will be used for contributions toward the community playground, and the Houlton Elementary school playground. Some funds will be used toward other Rotary charities such as scholarships and other local and international causes.
Rotarians are also selling tickets on $500 of fuel donated by Dead River Company.  Tickets are $1 each or a book of six can be purchased for $5.
Anyone not contacted by a Rotarian who is interested in contributing items for the auction may call auction chairman Fred Grant at 532-5979 or Rotary President Dana Delano at 532-6531. Baked goods and homemade items are especially welcome.
