HOULTON — The Health Services Foundation’s quilt raffle is in countdown mode with the drawing being held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 4 at Daniels Florist.
“This absolutely incredible, beautiful work of art was made very special through the efforts of Jo Ann Dunphy, Pam Hocking, Peggy Crane, Kim Hazlett and many mutual friends,” said Elizabeth Dulin, executive director for the Foundation. “The quilt is a super-sized queen, measuring 98-inches by 114-inches done in the soft, gorgeous design and colors of Martinique Fabric, and is made even more special with a dedication, in fabric, on the back in memory of Hope York, and Jean Levasseur Pipes.”
The quilt is currently on display at Daniel’s Florist on Main Street in Houlton. Tickets are available at that location and will be sold at the Craft Fair at Monument Park, Saturday, July 2, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are also available at Salon 61, Trendsetters, Carol’s Yarns, Horton’s Building Supply, and QED Optical.
“The individuals involved in this effort know first-hand what it is like to receive a diagnosis of breast cancer as they are survivors with stories to tell,” Dulin said. “They are also so generous in giving back to the community not only in the sharing of their knowledge of this disease, but joining in community efforts to be sure our healthcare providers have the necessary means to address this healthcare issue. They KNOW how vitally important it is that Houlton Regional have the latest technology and bring digital mammography screenings to our hospital.”
This donation is a special addition to the Foundation’s efforts to assist Houlton Regional Hospital, in its efforts to fight breast cancer at the local level.
