Think of our EMTs

To the editor:

It’s 2:30 in the morning on a cold, blustery night. Do you know where your firemen are? There’s a chance they are on a call, fighting a stubborn blaze with hoses that are freezing up or water in short supply, wishing they were back in their warm bed. Or possibly they are in bed resting, or sleeping, knowing that at a moment’s notice they would be called out once again. And the payoff is that they are giving back to their town for rewards that are not necessarily monetary — just the satisfaction that they did their job and perhaps saved someone’s home or family.

Our town is well served with these citizens, as well as local police, EMTs and Sheriff’s Department. I think Houlton is a great place to live.
