DANFORTH — Adelaide (Addie) Carter has been chosen as the new administrator of the East Grand Health Center, located on 201 Houlton Road in Danforth.

“We appreciate Addie’s managerial experience as well as her intelligent and thoughtful approach. She has a friendly outgoing personality, which will blend nicely with staff and community. We believe she will be a great asset to the East Grand Health Center,” said Heather Zakupowsky, chairwoman of the board of directors.
Carter replaces Jeff Hamm, as he pursues a career closer to home.
Originally from Upstate New York, Carter planted roots with her husband, Jared Carter, in the Houlton area in 2000. Jared Carter is the grandson of the late Dr. Rex Crocker and his wife Winifred Crocker, formerly of Danforth. The Carters have three children and live in Hodgdon. Though the commute may not be ideal for most, Carter states, “The views are incredible; I don’t mind the drive at all.”
A graduate of South Portland High School, Carter received an associate’s degree in office management from Southern Maine Community College and is currently working on her bachelor’s degree in health administration from St. Joseph’s College of Maine.
She has been working in the health care industry since 1994, first in direct care services, then most recently in health care management. She coached high school girls basketball for Hodgdon for seven years and is the current director of the Hodgdon Recreational Peewee Basketball program. She is a Special Olympics volunteer, plays the organ at her local church, is a member of the newly formed band Just A Ride on keys and vocals, and enjoys training for 5K’s.
“I am excited to work with the staff and patients of East Grand. It is a privilege to be involved in a community that my family has deep rooted connections with.”
