To the editor:
Hi my name is Breanna. I am almost 16 years old and I had a pretty great life up until Feb. 14th when our family home burned to the ground. By the time they got the fire out, my great-grandparents, my parents, my cousin and myself and our three dogs and cat were all without a home.
My mom has helped so many people through the years. From taking in nieces and nephews to taking in brothers and sisters and giving to neighbors that didn’t have. She took me in almost 16 years ago and then she took in my cousin almost eight years ago. My great-grandparents lived in Oklahoma and had to have triple bypasses on their hearts. Mom moved them here so she could be with them at all times. And she has devoted her life to taking care of them. Great Grammy has had a lot of strokes and has a hard time with things. Mom is always at her side.
Even after the fire Mom still continues to give to people in need. She had six or seven cords of wood that she could have sold but not my mom — she posted it on Facebook wanting to pay it forward and offering free pick-up loads to people who needed it to get through the winter. I watched my mom go to our burned home and pick up a splitting maul and break up the wood that was now frozen together because of the water from the fire trucks and load vehicle after vehicle with a load of wood just to help them out.
I am not asking for a lot. What I am asking for is for people to now help my mom. She is not young anymore and she is disabled. She doesn’t worry about herself, she worries about me and Hailey and Gram and Gramp. Please, I am asking for people to just donate a little so we will be able to rebuild our home and move back. At this time we are staying in a little camp that is really crowded. But we are grateful because we are still together.
There has been an account (Easler/Deveau) set up at The Bank of Maine, 9 Dyer Street in Presque Isle. There has also been a PayPal account set up and linked to the bank so people can donate online. Or donations can be sent to directly to our family at PO Box 106 Mapleton, ME 04757.
We had no insurance and we have no idea what we are going to do or where we are going to go. My mom says that there are millions of people in the world like her with a huge heart. Thank you in advance.
Breanna Bennett
