From downed trees to small fires, “Just about all areas of Maine, every county, was affected by last weeks wind event in some way, affects being more severe north of Bangor and Houlton,” said Todd Lericos, meteorologist and science operations officer at the National Weather Service in Caribou.     Recording gusts that reached 55 miles per hour, Clayton Lake saw the highest wind speed in Aroostook County during the May 14 wind event; Presque Isle came in a close second with wind speeds reaching up to 52mph. Winds were recorded reaching 44 mph in Caribou, and 45 mph in Houlton.
Though shingles were torn from roof tops and over a thousand people were without power in Aroostook County, the highest wind speed recorded during this wind event was 66 miles per hours at Beaver Cove in Piscataquis County.
