115 Years Ago – Aug. 20, 1908
Accepts a new position — Dr. O. H. Brann of Augusta, a graduate of Tufts Dental School, has accepted a position in Dr. M. L. Bonney’s dental parlors. Mr. Brann has successfully passed the examination of the Maine State Dental Board and is considered a first-class man in every respect.

115 Years Ago – Aug. 6, 1908
Repairs are complete — Repairs on the building occupied by Tornquist Brothers grocery are now complete. A new basement with concrete walls and floor has been put in, an addition built on the rear and other improvements made. The work was done under the supervision of E. O. Dahlstrom.

75 Years Ago – July 29, 1948
Large crowd attends the New Sweden anniversary — A large gathering attended the 78th anniversary of the settling of New Sweden Sunday afternoon at Thomas Park. Services were conducted there in the spacious music bowl. Mrs. Agnes Anderson, 83, the only remaining survivor of the 51 Swedish settlers who, under the leadership of W. W. Thomas founded the town, was present at the celebration.
