Grades 3 and 4 boys basketball

Kinney ended with a game-high eight points. Hunter Trask, Jacob O’Berry and Nick Bartlett each finished with two points. Grant Stewart was the high scorer for Syracuse with seven points. McManus finished with four points, as did teammates Gavin Kelley and Grant Bridges. Kyle Plourde netted two points, and Hunter Trask added one point.     Regulation wasn’t long enough to settle the match up between Syracuse and Michigan. Neither was one overtime period. It took four of Patrick Cash’s team-high 10 points in the second overtime to help Michigan pick up the exciting 27-24 decision. Jordan Bonville knocked down two points in the fourth quarter and the first overtime period for a total of four points. Christmas Light Parade party
The Presque Isle Recreation and Parks Department will be hosting a graham cracker house making party on Saturday, Dec. 6, beginning at 5:30 p.m. This is a great opportunity for people to come in and spread some holiday cheer prior to watching the parade. This is open for all ages, and families are encouraged to come. There will also be refreshments for sale during the party and parade. The cost of making a house is $2, but people who bring non perishable food items to donate will get a 50 percent discount. Call the office at 764-2545 with any questions.
Kids’ Christmas Party
The recreation department is once again hosting its Kids’ Christmas Party for children in grades 1-5. The event will be on Friday, Dec. 16 from 6-9:30 p.m.
Parents can finish up some Christmas shopping while their kids enjoy an evening of fun. Activities will include: bingo, gym games, a Red Sox swap and pizza eating. Gifts don’t have to be Red Sox related; we just don’t say that nasty ‘Y’ word around here.
Pre-registration if required as there are limited spaces available. The fee is $5 per child, plus a $3-$5 Red Sox swap gift.
Registration begins Dec. 2 at the William V. Haskell Community Center. Contact the recreation office at 764-2545 for more information.
Fowl Shooting results
The recreation department recently held a ‘Fowl’ Shooting contest, where children in grades 3-6 could win a turkey by shooting foul shots with their parents. Each parent and child shot 10 foul shots, and the totals were added together for a final score. The winners in each category received a turkey donated by Friends Market. Dave and Emily Wheaton came out on top of the father/daughter grades 3 and 4 division, the duo of Curt and Adam Paterson were tops in the father/son grades 3 and 4 shooting, and Angela and Gavin Kelley won the mother/son grades 3 and 4 shooting. Turkeys were awarded to Shawn and Brenden Goulet in the father/son grades 5 and 6 division, and Kim and Grayden Hemphill took the mother/son grades 5 and 6 top prize. Congrats again to all participants and thanks again to Friends Market for once again donating turkeys to make this possible.
