Mike Matheson graduates from academy

HOULTON, Maine — Michael Matheson of Houlton graduated Dec.19 with 37 others from the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Border Patrol Academy in Artesia, N.M. His wife, Holly, said she and the whole family — his children, parents and brothers — are “so very proud of what he’s accomplished because it’s what he has wanted to do for some time.” She added that seeing him was “very emotional” and having him away since September has been difficult.
“It’s been quite hard with him gone. We all miss him,” she added.
Matheson is scheduled for a brief visit home in January to celebrate his oldest son’s birthday and a 10-day leave in February. After each visit he will return to New Mexico to complete his training before assignment in the Houlton sector of the border patrol.
