Calling all bowlers

Over 160 central Aroostook kids need or want a mentor. Your child could be one of them or you may have what it takes to become a mentor yourself. Learn more about mentoring and the Central Aroostook Mentoring Program (CAMP) by participating in their annual Bowl-A-Thon on Saturday, March 14 at Northern Lanes on Main Street in Presque.

The Bowl-A-Thon is Saturday, March 14. Everyone is invited to participate and join in the fun!

Members of each team of four are asked to raise at least $50 in pledges to bowl from noon to 2 p.m. or from 2 to 4 p.m. Trophies are awarded for the most money raised by an individual and by a team. Many door prizes have been donated by local businesses which support mentoring.
Volunteering to participate by bowling or supporting a bowler is one way to help your community. The children you are helping are your potential customers and employees, your neighbors and friends. Mentors in a community-based match spend three to five hours on average per week with the mentee they are matched with. Without your help and a mentor in their lives, many of these young people remain at risk of not completing their education, giving into the temptation of drugs and violence, and failing to be productive future citizens.
This is where CAMP comes in, by working with MENTOR/National Mentoring Partnership to expand mentoring to hundreds of young people in our community who want or need adult role models.
Call 764-3721, Ext. 610 if you would like more information about CAMP and/or the annual CAMP Bowl-A-Thon.
