Members of the Crown of Maine Quilters Guild held a quilt show at the Gray Memorial United Methodist Church in Caribou last Saturday. With an estimated 160 handmade quilts draped over the pews and hanging from the balcony railings, the usual warmth of the church sanctuary was doubly so as the bright colors of material and variation of designs were highlighted by sunlight streaming in through the stained glass windows.

A pumpkin quilt, not yet finished was on display at the recent Crown of Maine Quilters Show.
The event, part of Caribou’s 150th birthday celebration allowed those who quilt and those who wished they did, to peruse amongst the displayed quilts and admire the handiwork in each of them. Quilters discussed materials, patterns as well as the age of some of the treasures before them.
During the morning and afternoon event, the sponsoring organization held a silent auction on many quilted items as well as selling a great deal of quilt related items. Those in attendance were also offered a chance to purchase a number of the quilts on display as well as other items created by guild members.
