Reversing diabetes — really!

To the editor:
I was a diabetic, and still am one, for years, as well as my entire family. Despite taking a couple of meds and trying to follow a decent diet, my numbers were not making my doctor happy. Hence, I was not very happy.
The I received a call from my sister and brother-in-law who had been following the regimen in the book “Dr. Neal Barnard’s Program for Reversing Diabetes” for approximately six months. Not only had their numbers dropped into the normal range, but they had been able to reduce and, in some cases eliminate, their meds. I was a Doubting Thomas and said, “yeah, right.”
The I heard my brother was following it and in a matter of a couple of months had seen similar results. This time I tried it, as did my mom. The results for both of us were great. Not only did our sugar numbers drop into the normal range, but our cholesterol and blood pressure results were amazing.
The foods we eat are heavy on whole grains and beans, as well as on lots of fruits and veggies. It takes some adjusting to, but it’s very easy to follow and most meals can be prepared in advance in a slow cooker. So if you’re having similar troubles, my advice is “try it, you’ll like it!”
