1986 — Viking center Anthony ‘Tony’ Collins towers over Caribou High School Athletic Director Dwight Hunter on Saturday, during award ceremonies following the four-game Christmas basketball tourney held over the weekend at CHS. Collins was named to the all-tourney team, along with teammate Steve McDuffie and Lady Vikes Karen Thompson and Gina LeBlanc. The host teams swept the series, defeating top-rated squads from Canada and southern Maine.
1986 — Caribou Police Officer Mitch Butler was tickled pink about the Christmas gift he received from the volunteer fire department last week. So pleased in fact, that he took his stuffed pink pig on patrol around the city. Affectionately known as Partner Pinky, the pair of crime fighters caused as many laughs as they did double-takes.
