Caribou play tonight

The Central Aroostook won four games last week to stay undefeated and continue their lead in the boys’ Eastern Maine Class D Heal Point rankings.

The Panthers beat Fort Fairfield, Wisdom, Hodgdon and Easton since last Tuesday to improve to 9-0 overall. CA is in first place in the rankings with a 27.9321 tournament index, well ahead of second-place Schenck (7-2, 19.1358).
Washburn is fourth (6-0, 11.8845), Fort Fairfield fifth (5-4, 11.7574) and Easton seventh (6-3, 10.6155) and are all in the playoff picture at the midway point of the regular season. Ashland is currently 16th (2-6, 2.1895). The top 10 teams qualify for the post-season.
Presque Isle won twice last week, beating Fort Kent and John Bapst, and are at 7-1 and in ninth place in EM Class B with a tournament index of 15.7407. The Wildcats meet up against Caribou tonight in PI in a key matchup, as Caribou also comes in at 7-1 and is in seventh place in the division. Camden Hills, MDI, Winslow and Ellsworth are all undefeated and claim the top four positions.

Summaries of boys’ games played through Monday, Jan. 10 are as follows:
Southern Aroostook 87, Ashland 50 – Four players scored in double figures as the Warriors improved to 6-3 with an 87-50 victory over the Hornets Monday in Dyer Brook.
Kenny Tarr’s 16 points and Tyler Levesque’s 11 led the 2-7 Hornets.
Washburn 69, GHCA 39 – At the University of Maine at Presque Isle Monday, the Beavers used a 17-10 run in the third quarter to break open a close game and defeat Greater Houlton Christian Åcademy.
Washburn stayed undefeated at 6-0 behind Mitchell Worcester’s 25 points and 13 more from Jordan McLaughlin.
Ethan Holmes scored 14 points for the Eagles, whose record dropped to 3-6 on the season.
Central Aroostook 83, Easton 65 – Mike McClung’s 25 points lifted the Panthers to the win over the Bears Monday. The win was CA’s second over Easton in 12 days.
Brendan York and Caleb Kelly each scored 19 points for the winners, now 9-0 on the campaign. Dan Brewer added nine.
Reid Clark totaled 16 points, Jared Hafford had 14 and Holden Turner 11 for Easton, now 6-3.
Presque Isle 44, John Bapst 40 – The Wildcats used 18 points from Alex Tuttle, while Andrew Legassie posted eight as the Wildcats edged the Crusaders Saturday at the Bangor Auditorium.
Presque Isle made it seven victories against one loss with the triumph.
Fort Fairfield 56, Easton 51 – The Tigers avenged an early-season loss in Easton by outscoring the Bears 22-16 over the final eight minutes in Fort Fairfield Saturday.
Travis Noyes had a huge game with 22 points, 14 rebounds and eight assists to pace Fort, which improved to 5-4. Jahleel Williams netted 14 points in the win.
Turner scored 12 points and Clark and Cody Tompkins tossed in 10 each for the Bears.
Madawaska 64, Fort Fairfield 56 – It was the Deejay Gendreau show at Madawaska Thursday, and the Tigers couldn’t keep up. The Owl senior had 24 points, 18 rebounds, eight assists and five blocked shots to key his team to the win.
Noyes scored 20 points, including a 10-for-10 performance from the foul line, to lead the Tigers.
Presque Isle 62, Fort Kent 50 – An 11-2 run in the second quarter helped the Wildcats get past the Warriors in Presque Isle last Wednesday.
Travis Dyer scored 23 points and Alex Tuttle added 14 for PI. Oliver Zubrick notched 10 points and Wilder York six points and seven assists in the win.
Curtis Bouchard had 19 points for the Warriors.
Easton 68, Ashland 38 – Clark scored 18 points, while Jonah Bacon and Turner had 16 and 14, respectively, as the Bears ran past the Hornets last Wednesday in Easton.
Tarr scored 17 points and Jordan Beaulier chipped in with eight for the Hornets.
Washburn 102, Limestone-MSSM 52 – Worcester and McLaughlin combined for 65 points as the Beavers rolled past the Eagles in Limestone last Wednesday.
Worcester had 39 points and McLaughlin 26 in the victory.
St. Pierre scored 12 and Cody Bryant 10 for Limestone-MSSM.
Central Aroostook 61, Fort Fairfield 58 – The Panthers held off the hard-charging Tigers last Tuesday in Fort Fairfield behind Kelly’s 5-for-6 effort from the foul line over the final minutes of play.
He scored a team-high 19 points, while Logan McLaughlin had 18 and York 12 for CA.
Noyes had 29 points, 12 assists and eight rebounds and Andrew Lewis netted eight points and hauled in nine rebounds for the Tigers.
