Administrators from the Eastern Aroostook RSU have announced there will be an important meeting, on Monday, April 11, at the Hilltop Elementary School, for all Caribou parents (guardians) with students who will be entering pre-K this fall and also for those parents or guardians of kindergarten students not presently enrolled in the Caribou schools.
The meeting will be held in the Hilltop School cafeteria at 6 p.m. for parents only. Children will not be screened at this time. During the meeting there will be a brief presentation by school staff regarding the children’s education. At this time parents will be given a registration packet and an appointment time to register their child (children).
Limestone pre-K and kindergarten registrations will be held April 11 through April 15 from 9 —11 a.m. and noon to 2 p.m. at the Limestone School.
Parents and guardians are reminded that they will need to present the following documents in order to register their child for school:
• Birth certificate of the child to be registered (hospital certificates are not acceptable) as mandated by state law.
• Copy of immunizations obtained from the child’s medical provider’s office, as mandated by state law. Immunizations required by the start of school year 2011-12 include: 5 DPT; 4 OPV/IPV; 2 MMR; Varicella or documentation of chickenpox disease from medical provider (4 years old or older).
• A copy of guardianship/custody papers if warranted.
Maine State Law mandates that kindergarten students must be 5 years of age on or before Oct.15, 2011. The pre-school program requires students be 4 years of age on or before Oct.15, 2011.
