HHS Alumni plans holiday events

    HOULTON — The Houlton High School Alumni Association will once again hold events during the Houlton Agricultural Fair and other July 4th activities. The annual Alumni Social and Golf Scramble sponsored by Elm Tree Diner will be held over the weekend.
    The social will held Friday, July 1 from 4:30-7 p.m at the Houlton Community Golf Course on Nickerson Lake.  Hors d’oeuvres will be provided and a cash bar will be available. This is a great opportunity for alums to visit with one another before Midnight Madness and the Fair activities. Hors d’ouevres sponsors are Dead River Company, Machias Savings Bank, Severson, Hand & Nelson and York’s of Houlton.  There is no cost to attend the social. All graduates, former students, current and former faculty and their guests are welcome to attend.
    The 9-hole Golf Scramble starts at 9 a.m. at the Houlton Community Golf Course on Nickerson Lake. This is a 9-hole Texas Scramble. Registration is $25 per person and advance registration is required. Four-person teams may sign up or individuals can sign up and have a team set up for them. The field is limited to 15 foursomes. Tee off is at 9 a.m. with registration at 8:30 a.m.. There will be prizes for the top three teams.  Non-alums are also welcome. Tee times will be posted on houltonalumni.com. Registration for the event can be made by contacting the Country Club at 532-2662.

    A new aspect to the weekend events is the “Monster Ball Drop” 50/50 Raffle. The event will take place on Saturday, July 2, immediately following the golf scramble. Numbered golf balls will be dropped from a bucket truck onto the 18th Green.  The owner of the ball that lands in the hole or closest to it will win 50 percent of the total. The cost is $10 for one golf ball or $25 for three. Tickets are currently on sale.
    They can be purchased at York’s of Houlton or on the alumni website at houltonalumni.com. You do not need to be present to win. The proceeds of the raffle will benefit the Alumni Association.
