Victoria McIntyre, of Blaine, a senior at Central Aroostook Jr.-Sr. High School, has been selected to receive the 2012 Principal’s Award, according to Principal Kevin Grass. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principal’s Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.
    Principal Grass noted in making the award, “Throughout her years at Central Aroostook, Victoria has been a focused and diligent worker not only in her academic subjects, but in her extra-curricular activities as well. She is deserving of this recognition.”

Victoria McIntyre,  Grass and other award winners and their principals attended an Honors Luncheon at the Spectacular Event Center in Bangor on Saturday, April 7, 2012.
The Honors Luncheon recognized these outstanding students with the presentation of an individual plaque and the awarding of five $1,000 scholarships in the names of Horace O. McGowan and Richard W. Tyler. Mr. McGowan and Mr. Tyler were former Maine principals and executive directors of the Association.
The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 140 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association which represents Maine’s school administrators.

 Husson awards degrees

The following students received diplomas from Husson University at commencement ceremonies held on May 5 and May 12. Husson awarded degrees to more than 600 students earning associates, bachelors and masters and doctoral degrees from Husson’s schools of business, education, health and science and humanities.

NESCom announces honor students

The New England School of Communications (NESCom) is happy to announce the students that received honors and high honors for the spring 2012 semester from our local areas.
Attaining honors were Christopher Bouchard from Woodland, Jessica Bradley from Limestone, Steven Carmichael from Mapleton, Nicole Drake from Eagle Lake, Taylor Evans from Patten, Jordan Hallett from Presque Isle, Courtney Hamlin from Caribou, Megan Kaiser from Chapman, Kaitlyn Keene from Dexter, Eric Lindsay from Monticello, Stephen Nason from Washburn, Dane Powell from Dover-Foxcroft, Nicholas Rush from Houlton and Ethan Willey from Caribou.
Attaining high honors were Joseph Johnson from Mapleton, Matthew Richardson from Dexter, Lucas Stewart from Durham and Sophia Willette from Presque Isle.

UMFK students honored at academic banquet

FORT KENT — Thirty-five awards and 14 scholarships were presented to deserving University of Maine at Fort Kent students at the Senior Class Banquet and Awards Convocation on Friday, May 11, in the UMFK Sports Center.
The annual event, held the evening prior to commencement, is designed to honor graduating students for outstanding achievement throughout their years at the University and to award underclassmen, who are continuing their education at UMFK, with financial assistance in recognition of their hard work and campus involvement.
In addition to awards, students were presented with scholarships at the annual banquet.
Jean-Luke Brabant, of Chapman, was presented the Thomas S. Pinkham Memorial Scholarship.
A scholarship award, the Haenssler Prize, was presented to Shawn Michael Deprey, of Eagle Lake.
