The “Just For Kids” summer playground children, sponsored by the Houlton Recreation Department will be holding their annual Peanut Parade and Carnival on Aug. 8 and 9.
The parade is set for Wednesday, Aug. 8 at 10 a.m. through downtown Houlton. The Peanut Carnival will be on Thursday, Aug. 9 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Pleasant Street tennis courts. In case of rain, the carnival will be held inside the Houlton Recreation Center.
The Highlight of the evening will be the crowning of the 2012 Peanut King and Queen at 8 p.m. at the Houlton Recreation Department gym.
Touch a Truck event
As part of this summer’s Potato Feast celebration, the Greater Houlton Chamber of Commerce and the Houlton Recreation Department will be holding the fourth annual “Touch A Truck” (and other cool vehicles) for Houlton area children.
Touch A Truck will be held on Friday, Aug. 17 from 4-6 p.m. on Broadway Street in Houlton. This free event features many vehicles that children see every day such as law enforcement, construction, fire, postal and school bus to mention a few.
