Caring about people
To the editor:
I have a medical condition that has been going on for the better part of the last two years which has prevented me from working. I have seen many doctors and specialists locally and downstate. I was scheduled to see a doctor in Boston and was very hesitant to drive down due to my inexperience in driving in heavy interstate traffic. Having not ever driven in Boston, I didn’t know what I was going to do.
I spoke to Bob Saucier, who is a friend of mine, about my situation. Listening to my plight he offered to drive me to Boston taking time out of his busy schedule. I told him that I didn’t have any way to pay him and he said that he didn’t expect any payment. He also took the time while we were down there to show me some of the sights of the city. He explained to me the process of filing for disability through Social Security and that it could be a long process. He told me to contact DHHS in Caribou to file for MaineCare, since I had lost my health insurance when I was terminated from my job due to not being able to work.
The kindness and understanding Bob showed me was unbelievable. I know from the way he treated me that he has done the same for others through his work at Social Security. I am supporting a candidate that undoubtedly cares about people and has the knowledge to assist people in need. He is my choice and I believe the best choice to represent House District 5 in Presque Isle.
I will be supporting him with my vote on Nov. 6 and know that as Presque Isle’s next representative to the legislature that he will have our best interests in mind.
