Church to hold bean supper

   There will be a baked bean supper, followed with a pie auction, at the Advent Christian Church located at 42 Exchange St. in Ashland Saturday, Oct. 6 beginning at 5 p.m. Price is by donation with all proceeds going to missions for “Christmas in October.”

Dance and yoga classes to begin

    Jessica Nason is pleased to announce she will be offering dance classes for a fall and winter session. The dance classes will be open to children ages 5 to 18 with instruction in tap, jazz, ballet and hip hop. The cost will be $25 per month for three months. Classes begin Oct. 9. A recital will be planned for some time in January.

    Nason will also be offering yoga instruction for adult students. The cost will be $25 for 10 weekly sessions. The dates and times will be announced.

Ongoing events

    The Portage Lake ATV Club will meet every first Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the Town Office. All are welcome to attend. Contact Rena Belanger for membership or more information at 435-2780.

    The Ashland Area Senior Citizens meet the first and third Thursday at noon for a potluck luncheon at the LeBlanc Junkins VFW Post 9699 on the Portage Road with a meeting to follow. This active and growing club of senior citizens also takes trips to various restaurants throughout The County, hosts cookouts, enjoys guest speakers and entertainment such as musicians.     The Red Hat Loonies of Portage Lake meet the second Thursday of every month at Dean’s Motor Lodge. Membership dues are $2. Come and have a great meal and a great time, too! For more information, contact Rachel Stevens at 435-6358.
