The Galaxy and Hurricane went head-to-head to begin the latest stretch of Presque Isle Recreation and Parks Department soccer action played at the Riverside Park field.
In the contest, Jordan Wood zig-zagged through the Hurricane defense to put the Galaxy on top early. Gage Letourneau and Mason Fletcher added second-half goals to cap off a 3-0 victory.
The Missiles used five goals from Ben Graham to down the Blast, 5-0.
The Galaxy was too strong for the Blast as Letourneau netted four goals in a 6-1 triumph over the Blast. Brady Miller converted a Chase Langley feed to put the Blast on the scoreboard early in the second half, but Rhylee Kinney finished off the Galaxy win with two more tallies.
The Tornados blanked the Missiles, 6-0, behind four goals from Jonah Roy and two by his brother, Noah.
The Roys came through with another solid offensive showing, this time with Noah scoring four times and Jonah adding a pair of goals in the Tornados’ 6-1 win over the Blast. Xavier McAtee had the lone Blast goal.
The Galaxy and Missiles played to a scoreless tie.
The Hurricane managed a 1-0 victory over the Blast thanks to a goal late in the first half by Colby Carlisle.
The two undefeated teams, the Tornado and the Galaxy, met up for a showdown. Goalkeepers Cameron LeVasseur of the Tornado and Jacob Smith of the Galaxy were both peppered with numerous shots on goal, but held up strong as the two teams were scoreless at intermission. Connor Michaud blasted a shot that took LeVasseur over the goal line for the first Galaxy goal, while Kinney netted an important insurance tally in the Galaxy’s 2-0 win.
Grades 5-6
The Mutiny and Express kicked off recent play in the older division. The Express was carried by Charlotte Carrier, who scored a pair of unassisted goals in the 3-0 victory. Tanner Smith was the other goal scorer for the victors and Mason Young recorded the shutout in goal.
The Sting managed a 2-1 win over the Rapids. The Rapids scored early on a goal off the foot of Austin Plourde, but the Sting mounted a comeback as Jacob Bonville netted two goals, one off a Connor DeMerchant assist.
The Clash and Crew played to a 4-4 draw. The Crew opened the scoring thanks to a Caleb Wheaton goal, but Alex Harvath and Torey Levesque scored back-to-back tallies to give the Crash the advantage. Wheaton evened the game and teammate Riley Kinney notched a pair of goals to give the Clash the advantage, but the Crew battled back behind the offensive exploits of Sydney Durepo and Libby Moreau, who each scored to force the tie.
The Mutiny bested the Crew, 3-2. Carter Rice scored on a penalty kick, while Alana Legassie and Alex Churchill also had goals for the victors. Caleb Wheaton scored both Crew goals, one off a nice feed by Kinney.
The Express blanked the Sting, 3-0, behind two goals by Bonville and another by Sam Beaulieu. DeMerchant posted an assist for the winners.
The Clash had first-half goals from Alex Harvath and Rebecca Rider, and that was all the scoring in the 2-0 win over the Rapids.
A penalty kick by Plourde powered the Rapids to a 1-0 win over the Mutiny.
The Clash bested the Sting, 3-2, with Harvath netting a single goal and Levesque scoring twice for the winning squad. Bonville and Beaulieu each scored for the Sting.
The Crew beat the Express, 2-1, with Wheaton scoring a goal and assisting on another by Paige McHatten. Tanner Smith converted a Cole Paterson assist for the Express goal.
Austin Plourde opened the scoring and teammate Trace Cyr put in a pair of goals before intermission as the Rapids beat the Express, 3-1. Carrier scored a first-half goal to lead the Express offense.
Rice and Ifeanyi Sargent scored for the Mutiny, while Levesque and Carter Jackson had goals for the Clash as the two teams played to a 2-2 deadlock.
The Sting bested the Crew, 4-1, behind two goals from Bonville and one each from Chase Quirion and DeMerchant. Kinney assisted on a goal by Mark Graves to put the Crew on the scoreboard.
DeMerchant tallied three goals, with Kaci Chapman and Josh Hyde providing assists on two of them, as the Sting eased past the Mutiny, 3-0.
Plourde punted an assist to Gavin Akeley for the game’s only goal as the Rapids blanked the Crew, 1-0.
The Express and Clash played to a scoreless draw.
