MERRILL — A Presque Isle man was charged Thanksgiving evening with numerous motor vehicle citations and criminal mischief after leading police on a brief chase.
Wayne Boulier, Jr., 32, was driving a 2011 Nissan sedan on Route 212 in Merrill when he lost control, going off the road and striking some trees, before fleeing the scene on foot, according to Maine State Police.
Troopers Carman Lilley and Jill Monahan responded to the crash and began searching for the driver. Trooper Chad Fuller was dispatched with his tracking dog, Glenni, and Boulier was found a short time later coming out of a wooded area.
Boulier was arrested for operating after suspension, violation of conditions of release, driving to endanger and criminal mischief.  He was transported to Houlton Regional Hospital for treatment of minor injuries from the crash and then brought to the Aroostook County Jail. The car sustained significant damage in the crash and was towed from the scene.
