The regular season for high school basketball is finished and several Class D girls teams were involved in preliminary games for the right to advance into the Eastern Maine Basketball Tournament in Bangor.
There were just a handful of games to conclude the season and the results are as follows:
Katahdin, 48, Hodgdon, 29 — The Katahdin Lady Cougars defeated Hodgdon in Stacyville last Tuesday on Katahdin’s Senior Night. Leading the way for Katahdin was senior Delaney Fitzpatrick with 16 points, along with senior Morgan Livezey, who had 12 rebounds, 10 assists and six steals and Erin Crawford chipped in with 10 points.
For Hodgdon, Lauren Howell tossed in 18 points.
SACS 75, East Grand 43 — The Southern Aroostook girls overpowered host East Grand in last Tuesday’s game in Danforth.
Sable Altvater poured in a game-high 31 points, while Kennedi Smith dropped in 20 points and Mataya Hartin added 14 more.
Southern Aroostook led 14-10 to start the game and held a 30-24 advantage at halftime. In the third, the Lady Warriors broke the game open, outscoring their opponent, 21-11.
Hayleigh Shay paced East Grand with 15 points, while Chelsea Winiarski added 11 points and Sarah Stoddard chipped in with 10 more.
GHCA 49, Wisdom 25 — Last Tuesday in St. Agatha, the GHCA Lady Eagles overtook Wisdom behind Colby Walker’s 20 points and Rylee Warman’s 16.
The high school boys regular basketball season has come to a close, with preliminary games for Class D teams being tonight. (See related story).
The Southern Aroostook boys overtook Fort Fairfield, 84-58, last Thursday in Dyer Brook, while earlier in the week, the Warriors powered by host East Grand, 74-38.
Cameron Landry led SACS with 18 points, while the freshmen tandem of Jackson Mathers and Nolan Altivater chipped in with 17 and 14 points, respectively.
For East Grand, Logan Crone scored 18 points on six 3-pointers, while Kenneth Winiarski added eight and Alex Stoddard chipped in with five.
The visiting Central Aroostook Panthers overcame Katahdin, 61-44, last Tuesday in Stacyville, while the GHCA Eagles were defeated 82-43 by host Wisdom.
Dana Brown scored 16 points and Aaron Holmes added 13 for the Eagles, while the Pioneers were led by Nate Boynton’s 33 points. Justin Pelletier tossed in 13 and Dominic Roy chipped in with 10 more for the winners.
