To the editor:
I have a very well educated and intelligent friend who is by nature and experience a conservative Republican.
I have the life experiences that have prejudiced me toward being a liberal Democrat. My friend and I have similar degrees from the same university and have undertaken similar educational projects in similar industries. When I correspond with him he almost always tells me that I am only half right. I purchased and read his first book on American socioeconomics. In my opinion he is only telling half the story and is only half right.
I will conclude that half of our political opinions share common ground. This common ground we share would go a great distance towards compromise that would make a positive difference in our society.
When conservative Republicans and liberal Democrats cannot find common ground to make a positive difference, it is because they each only have half a brain. The old adage that someone can make a difference with only half a brain apparently is not true anymore. We must be electing representatives with only half a brain.
