ACAP TO HOST OPEN HOUSE

PRESQUE ISLE — On Wednesday, April 29, from 4-6 p.m., Aroostook County Action Program, Inc. (ACAP) will host an open house at ACAP Early Care and Education Center, Gouldville, located at 44 Park Street.

“We are excited to show the community the many improvements we’ve made to Gouldville since 2010,” said Sue Powers, senior manager, ACAP Family Services. “Thanks to very generous funders, we have made over $300,000 in renovations to the building. While improvements have been necessary, we recognize Gouldville is a historic landmark in our community and we have been very careful to honor the character and integrity of the building.”
The community is encouraged to attend the open house. There will be a brief presentation at 4 p.m., followed by tours of the building, refreshments and a children’s art sale. The sale will be by donation, and all proceeds will be used to purchase new arts and craft supplies for the children.
“We really hope Gouldville alumni will attend the event. We have some historical items and beautiful photographs that are sure to offer people a trip down memory lane,”  explained Powers.
Each day ACAP Early Care and Education Center, Gouldville, offers Early Head Start, Head Start and Child Care services to 100 children. In addition, WIC (Supplemental Nutrition for Women, Infants and Children) provides food vouchers, nutrition counseling, breastfeeding support, and access to health services to low-income women, infants and children up to 5 years of age. Oral health care services for low-income children are also provided at Gouldville, thanks to a dental operatory made available by a donation from local orthodontists Dr. Donald Cassidy and Dr. Maurice Belden.
