PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The Central Aroostook Kennel Club will be hosting Therapy Dog International testing on Saturday, August 12, 2017, at the Presque Isle Inn and Convention Center.

A therapy dog provides affection and comfort to people in hospitals, retirement homes, nursing homes, schools, hospices and disaster areas, as well as to people with autism. Owners of these dogs take them to locations to provide comfort to others.
Kennel club officials saidKennel club officials said the difference between a service dog and a therapy dog is that, while service animals provide assistance to their owners, therapy canines provide comfort to people other than their owners.
The CAKC urged interested owners to start practicing now with their dog. For information visit www.tdi-dog.org/HowToJoin.aspx?Page=New+TDI+Test. Download registration forms from theCAKC.com, or contact Kathy Hoppe at kmhoppe@icloud.com or 207-551-6108.
