Kids delve into arts at library workshop

CARIBOU, Maine — The Caribou Public Library and Cornerstone Creative Studios hosted a creative writing and collaborative art workshop on June 6 for all middle- and high-school-age students.

The presenter was Ryan Tyler Palmer, artist/author and project manager for a new comic line from Cornerstone Creative Studios (CCS) based in Omaha Beach, Fla. CCS supports and promotes talented individuals in collaborative projects with other artists and writers. These collaborations offer new and emerging artists exposure to the larger world of sequential arts (comics and graphic novels).

Nine children and four adults attended the workshop. Palmer shared his experience as a writer and artist with CCS and discussed the creative process of sequential art and the

importance of collaboration between storytellers and artists.

Youth spent time working on their drawings or visual story lines.

According to Library Director Anastasia Weigle, the session is to be the first among many arts workshops at the library.
