PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Early Monday, July 24, an employee at Houlton Farms Dairy Bar on Main Street discovered the Star City business was burglarized.

According to Presque Isle police, Nathan Manning-Harris, 32, of Presque Isle reportedly smashed a window on the north side of the dairy bar, gained entry and stole $25 worth of rolled pennies, which his girlfriend, Alexsea Cholewa, 23, of Presque Isle, later cashed in at a local bank.

Authorities identified Manning-Harris thanks to the dairy bar’s surveillance system. Police identified Cholewa with the help of the local bank where she cashed in the coins.

Detective Kris Beck executed a search warrant of the suspect’s home, where he recovered additional evidence, including drugs and paraphernalia.

Police took both Manning-Harris and Cholewa into custody Wednesday, and they appeared in front of a judge in Houlton Friday morning.

Manning-Harris faces a list of charges, including violating the conditions of release, a class C felony; as well as burglary, theft, criminal trespass, criminal mischief and endangering the welfare of a child.

Cholewa also faces charges of violating conditions of release, as well as receiving stolen property and endangering the welfare of a child.

Some charges came as a result of the search warrant, authorities said.

No ice cream was reported stolen.
