PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The Presque Isle Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a suspect wanted for reckless conduct with a firearm.
On Wednesday, May 23, at around 9:30 p.m., Presque Isle Police responded to a call reporting gunshots fired near 36 Oak Street in Presque Isle, the police department said in a press release.
According to the release, officers found probable cause to issue an arrest warrant for 36-year-old Bobby L. Nightingale on a charge of aggravated reckless conduct with a firearm.
Nightingale, whose municipality of residence is not known, is thought to be armed and dangerous, according to the release.
No injuries were reported, but Presque Isle Police Chief Matt Irwin said investigators believe the suspect was targeting someone.
“We believe he was shooting at someone,” Irwin said in an interview.
However, no victim has stepped forward to give a statement, Irwin added.
The chief said police believe the incident may be drug-related.
“That’s the type of problem we’re having at that address,” Irwin said. No other charges related to the incident have been filed.
“We’ve been working on the case for a week and trying to tie together information.”
Irwin said that Nightingale has a criminal history in Presque Isle dating back to 2002 with charges including possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and burglary.
Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call the Aroostook County Crime Stoppers at (800) 638-8477 or the Presque Isle Police Department at (207) 764-4476.
