115 Years Ago – Nov. 3, 1906
Halloween party — There was a pleasant Halloween party Wednesday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H.D. Collins given by the young people of Universalist Sunday School. Various games and amusements, appropriate for the occasion, were indulged in. Afterward a supper was served.
Grange fair a success — The first Annual Grange Fair and Baby Show, given under the auspices of the Caribou Grange, originally scheduled for Thursday of last week, was held on Saturday and was a complete success in every way, as an exhibition as well as financially.
100 Years Ago – Oct. 30, 1921
Dodge dealer — Mr. Harry Beal has recently taken over the agency for the Dodge Automobile.
Football team unbeaten so far — The Caribou High School football team is covering itself with glory this year, having three games so far, and winning them all.
75 Years Ago – Nov. 3, 1946
Rotary governor visits — Governor Herbert Russell of Rotary International made his official visit to the Washburn Rotary Club’s recent meeting. He was introduced by club President, Ray Carter. Mr. Russell spoke briefly on Rotary subjects and met with the club President and several members.
Caribou Scout drive — Walter Kellison, chairman of the Caribou Boy Scout Fund Drive, announced Wednesday that $1,231 of the $2,000 quota has been raised. Contributions from the drive will be turned in to Wallace Ritchie at the Aroostook Trust Co., who is serving as treasurer for the drive.
25 Years Ago – Oct. 30, 1996
Net Day a success — Woodland Consolidated School, like many other schools across the nation, took part in Net Day 96. Wiring was installed in all the classrooms, the computer lab, the tutorial room and the principal’s office bringing them a step closer to connecting to the internet.
Teachers dress for charity — Did anyone see the extraordinary? Staff members at CMS in jeans? Yes! The CMS staff is currently raising funds for local charities by paying $5 to wear jeans on the last Friday of each month. The first donation will go towards food baskets for Thanksgiving.
