McGraw receives Katahdin MPA Principal’s Award, 2021

SHERMAN, Maine — Emma McGraw of Sherman, a senior at Katahdin Middle-High School has been selected to receive the 2021 Principal’s Award.

Principal Shelley Lane announced the selection March 23. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement, leadership, and citizenship.

“Throughout her years at Katahdin High School, Emma has distinguished herself in the classroom, as well as being a member of National Honor Society, and playing soccer,” Lane said. “Emma has won multiple awards including the Kauffmann Environmental Writing Award and Science Fair Awards in physical science. She has been taking dance classes from the age of five until present. She has also been involved in Conservation Fellow/Youth Conservation Corps and Trail Crew/Youth Conservation Corps.”

Lane, McGraw, and other award winners and their principals will participate in a virtual drawing on May 14 for a chance to win a $1,000 scholarship. There will be 10 scholarships drawn statewide.

The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 140 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association which represents Maine’s school administrators.
