On Saturday, April 3, the very distinguished Peter Cottontail dropped by the Mapleton Lions Hall at the invitation of the Mapleton Daze Committee.
He agreed to greet and give special Easter treats to area kids as a fundraiser for this summer’s Mapleton Daze, where there will be fun events, a parade and fireworks for all.
It might be worrisome when you are small to meet the large Peter Cottontail, but with the encouragement of parents such as Pamela Churchill, Benjamin is happy to receive his goody bag from the famous rabbit. (Courtesy of Terry Sandusky)
The parents were just as excited as their children to see and meet Mr. Cottontail. They drove through the hall’s driveway stopping to make a donation to Mapleton Daze, dropping of items for the town’s community pantry and watch as their kids met Mr. Cottontail. Approximately 150 kids stopped in for photos with Mr. Cottontail.
Lynnelle Foster, Mapleton Daze President, was happy with the turnout of kids and parents for the event. The donations received are appreciated as was the large quality of donated nonperishable food items for the community pantry.
Parents had a hard time to keep their kids in their vehicles as many youngsters, such as these two lads, excitedly hung out the windows as they waited in line and finally approached the Easter Bunny when he visited Mapleton.

Laurie Boucher said. “The amount of fun everyone had was way beyond what we had expected.” There was a steady line of vehicles coming through the meet and greet for the two hours of the event.
