Presque Isle hosts time trial series

    PRESQUE ISLE – A small but strong field of cyclists participated in the Presque Isle time trial on July 19, the eighth in the state series.
    The course, on the Parsons Road, follows the Aroostook River for 7.5 miles from Presque Isle to Washburn before turning back toward the start/finish line.

    MIXED DOUBLES 10 to 12 age division winners of the Van Buren tennis tournament were, from the left, Cameron Hill, Jenna Hallet and Liam Hughes. Missing is Parise Rossignol.

    Daniel Hickey, from Lincolnville, finished first in a time of 34:13 followed in second by Easton’s Von Perry 34:57. Age group winners were Guy Berthiaume (men’s 55 to 64), Tim Bryce of New Harbor (men’s 35-44), Neal Sleeper  of Caribou (men’s 18-34) and Chris Warden of Brewer (men’s 18 and under).
    All the women entrants won in their age category. Liddy Hubbell of Bar Harbor set a new women’s course record in 37:58. Laurie Krzywda  held the women’s record from last year at 41:37. Stephanie Caverhill finished her first time trial in 43:54.
    Peter Forbes directed the race with the volunteer support of Hal Stewart, Penny McHatten, Kyle Washington, Stan MacArthur and Jonathan Kelly.
