REED PLANTATION, Maine — On Tuesday, March 5, at about 3:30 p.m., the Maine State Police responded to a report of a tractor trailer crash on Route 2A. Troopers Carman Lilley and Chad Fuller responded.

Abel Shaw, 20, of Chester was southbound on a stretch of Route 2A, which is known locally as Santa Claus Hill. Shaw was operating a 1994 Freightliner tractor trailer loaded with logs and as he was traveling down the hill, he lost control, rolling the truck on its side and losing the load of logs in the roadway.
The truck, which is owned by Delaite Trucking of Lincoln, sustained significant damage in the accident and was towed from the scene.
Route 2A was shut down for approximately three hours while the logs were cleared from the roadway and a damaged telephone pole was replaced. Shaw was not hurt in the crash.
